Friday, May 31, 2013 - WOTN up against serious comp from Oakville. Decanted 3 plus hours
Great complexities on this wine and a bunch of layer when you think you are tasting one thing you can dig a little deeper and find hints of more flavors. Love this wine for that. From the start of this wine could not tell Napa. Very Bordeaux character going on.Bit barnyard on the nose, but nice side of barnyard not overpowering. Also mint chocolate and eucalyptus on the nose. Reminded me of a middle aged first growth. Great mixture of black and red rope licorice Mint, black currant, and hints of blueberry flavors. Great long and smooth finish. Very well constructed. Looking forward to trying again as I feel I missed somethings as I was totally surprised by this wine.
