Wednesday, April 28, 2010 - A purple red hue in the glass, this youngster reveals gobs of fruit on both the nose and palate. Still somewhat primary and closed, there was dark plum, asian five spice, heat, cola and toasted oak on the nose. In the mouth the lively young fruit attacks early, with reds and blacks. Fairly smooth tannins with a moderate finish. I think this needs more time still to shed a little babyfat....not comparable to the benchmark '04 SC in my book with regard to complexity and structure, but hopefully with a bit more cellar time it will come around and provide the exhilirating combination of power, finesse, structure and fruit that KB masterpieces are known for.
