Saturday, June 5, 2010 - Aromas of soft, cloying red berry, vanilla, baking spice, a little dark earth and a touch of rhubarb and game. A little brighter on the palate, with the spice having less of a sweet edge, and there is a nice woodsiness. Powerful acids on the finish (which seem out of place and tend to pull out the alcohol), a blue fruit accent, woodsy earthiness again. A rather simplistic wine, well made but formulaic, lacking structure and grip.
