93 Points

Wednesday, March 27, 2013 - 13% ABV. Initial strong, hot nose of green peppers. After around 5 hours in a decanter the wine is starting to balance out a bit. A couple of hours later notes of raspberry, graphite and sour cherry. Elegant and refined palate and a medium finish. The vegetal component doesn't disappear though, it just integrates more, so if you're sensitive to those sort of flavors look elsewhere.
Seems like the Cab Franc is quick to wake up but the rest of it needs to air. Probably should aim for 10-12 hours decanting time. Given that it seems likely this will improve considerably with further cellaring. For now I'd say I wanted to like it more than I did.
Edit- day 2. The pepper flavors have softened even more and become a little spicier, with some meaty aromas. Upgraded to a 91. This wine needs a really long time, but I am finally starting to really enjoy it. It's no fruit bomb though, so it's not a great surprise Parker hates it.
Edit- later on day 2. Damn! I can't stop upgrading this note! The wine is on its last glass and is comfortably a 93 now. I'm glad I have some extra of these; I'm going to decant the next one 24 hours ahead of time.
