Wednesday, August 19, 2020 - A year since last tasted, this is pretty much in the same place. It possesses a deep aromatic nose, but now with sterner notes of tobacco creeping in. Green bell pepper and tobacco dominate the palate, and while perfectly balanced and lengthy, the finish is very robust and almost austere. It is very untypical of the right bank wines from the year and you could be forgiven for thinking you were drinking a good left banker from 1995. It is definitely in its early drinking window and secondary notes are prominent, but I still hope it will settle further with aging. All in all it is a very enjoyable and interesting wine, but I am starting to understand why the critics got it so wrong on release.
