100 Points

Thursday, May 19, 2011 - I was lucky enough to have some Heredia wines at a tasting, they were just amazing. All of them were decanted properly. I do not know how to explain it, was I just lucky and we got the wines in the right phase and were bottled perfectly? I don't know, but they were just amazing. This wine is a medium bodied wine, the color has lightened some, but is still a medium ruby red with lightening, but NO signs of browning at the rim. It is only 12.0% alcohol. The wine gave off multiple aromas of red berries, spices, perfumey/floral aromas, rhubarb, cassis, slight hints of mint and tobacco. It tasted of red berries, rhubarb, spices, cassis, mushroom and a couple other flavors. Nice long aftertaste! This wine is by no means done yet. Given the acidity, tannin and structure, this wine has at minimum 15 more years, but would not be surprised at all to see it go 25+ more years.
