90 Points

Sunday, April 27, 2008 - In the glass, faded strawberry at the rim quickly moving to a deep, dark, opaque red at the center. On the nose, menthol and currants. On the palate, more of the same, with hints of tobacco and soy, soft tannins leading to a somewhat silky mouthfeel, and a moderate finish. Varietally correct, a pleasant wine with some age that provides additional enjoyment, but not an extraordinary one. Having been fortunate enough to have had the '82, and at the risk of being glib, I'd say the '99 is just like that, but with the volume on 2.
