Saturday, October 31, 2020 - Based on its forward earthy nose and its slight brick hue, I first thought this was over the hill at 15 years of age. Very musty with no fruit profile on the nose. After breathing in bottle for two hours, corked it back up, then returned to it 24 hours later. The obvious tannins surprised me for a Cotes Chalonnaise of this age. Yet, it drank surprisingly well the second day, with red fruits on the palate and that earthy nose now very beguiling and hypnotic. I agree with other recent reviews that this is approaching its final moments, so I would suggest drinking this over the next 12-18 months.
