Community Tasting Note

Sunday, May 24, 2009 - Reading through some tasting notes I thought I would give this a go as it seems it could be headed toward the dumb phase. Decanted for 2 1/2 hours. Very dark and intense purple with some ruby on the edge. On the nose it was powerful dark fruit (blackberry), currant, cassis, leather and some floral elements. A very full bodied mouthfeel with dark fruit, blackberry, currant and some of that nice Pauillac minerality. The tannins were sweet but a bit pronounced which makes you realize this is still a baby and has quite a bit of life left in it. There is a nice and welcome splash of acidity and it finishes long and elegant. The 2002 vintage on the left bank in bordeaux was nothing special but this is a clear standout. I am going to let my remaining bottles sleep for a while. 50+5+13+17+7=92pts
