Thursday, March 27, 2014 - This is a somewhat reticent Pauillac, if typical. A little green mixed in the nose with mostly currants. Palate has some rather prominent chunky tannins that are quite dry--along with currants and some black fruits. Moderate to short finish. Not the most polished, complex, or elegant Pontet-Canet, leaning more toward d'armailhac in style as compared to Mouton. I would agree with others that this is in a nice place for balanced fruit and tannin, and I don't see a high upside for long term aging. Drink or hold for medium term.
