Thursday, May 28, 2015 - Haut Bailly always seems to get low scores when it's drunk young and that's fine by me because I like it and it's one of those Graves that simply never got expensive. From 375 this still isn't quite mature but it's getting there and with an hour of air, shows expressive dark cherry, creosote (more than pipe tobacco at this stage), mineral, and loamy earth. It's light on its feet; I like that. I don't like ponderous, over-oaked Graves (I'm talking to you, Magrez-era Pape Clement). This is still 5 years away from maturity in full bottle and I think it'll pick up some nice added complexity with age.
