Tuesday, September 12, 2006 - Deep, dark ruby in color. Nose smacks you across the face with espresso. The espresso-dominated nose, with extra time in the glass, eventually gave way to toasted oak (a left-over from the espresso), plum jam and mocha notes. The wine has some nice structure with acid and fine, silky tannins in sync. This is drinking well now and I doubt it is going to get any better, but we will see. My previous notes for this wine indicated much more noticeable tannins, but those are well-integrated now. Time to start drinking this one!
