Saturday, December 26, 2015 - From a half bottle with a great fill. No decant. This Lafite had a serious wow-wow nose. From the first whiff, it was clearly incredible. It has this unique combination of red fruit, maybe raspberry, with loads of truffle/mushroom and an earthy, cedary undertone. It was profound and not like anything I've had before. The nose did not evolve too much throughout the night like other bottles of truly profound Bordeaux. The palate was very smooth with pure elegance. However, I would have liked a bit more intensity and grip. I see what Parker and reviewers below were saying about the lack of 1st Growth depth. But considering it was a 30 year old half bottle of a less reputed year, I was thrilled. What a nose!
