Sunday, August 8, 2010 - Decanted 2 hours. Lots of oak on this one, just starting to really integrate on Day 3. Initially, this was a big mouthful of wood, with some great berry fruit and drying tannins. Day 2 was much smoother, but still heavy on the vanilla-oak flavors. Day 3 this wine was singing, with just some vanilla on the finish, and that blackberry and plum fruit hitting hard on the attack. Not a fruitbomb, but certainly not shy either. I'd give this another year or two to integrate everything a bit more. I see the 2006 Columbia Valley has a drinking window of 2013+, which should give you some idea on this wine.
