Sunday, December 6, 2015 - Oh wow. You know, sometimes you pull a nice bottle out of the cellar, take it to a special occasion, and get sorely disappointed? This was the opposite. Was having a quiet dinner at home, and grabbed the 2000 Haut-Bergey because it was in its window and I hadn't had an aged bordeaux in a while. I was in no way expecting the excellence of this bottle. Notable for its earthy nose, smooth tannins, and dark restrained fruit; this wine punched way above its weight. A picture of balanced elegance. A good claret in its prime. Only needed about 30 mins in the decanter to show its stuff. Bravo. Great QPR.
