Sunday, March 22, 2020 - Bought on release and perfectly stored. Unanimous praise at the table. Light golden colour. On the nose, while initially a bit shy, a complex array develops featuring tropical fruit, earthy minerality, herbal and waxy tones and only a little petrol. In the mouth the wine is full-bodied in Riesling terms, yet with a great lift of acidity, the latter I did not expect from vintage 2007. Broad-shouldered, but proportioned and not tiring to drink. Really masterfully crafted. The wine seems to be in its prime but will probably keep for another five years at least. My preferred Riesling wines are dry Kabinett, therefore I find it difficult to score this big boy at 95+, which he probably deserves.
