Monday, March 23, 2020 - Dim Sum Club at Imperial Treasure Teochew (Imperial Treasure Teochew, Ion): Not bad. Hard to believe I last had this 12 years back. It has certainly developed, but I am not sure it has really improved all that much. The nose was a lot more tertiary, with earth, sous bois notes, some meat, and then a linger of red fruit, spice and mineral. A rather funky, very masculine bouquet. The palate seems to have tightened and clenched up over the years, showing cool but reserved flavours of black cherries and dark berries, again seasoned with a dash or spice, bramble and a little mineral at the finish. I liked the bright 2001 freshness to this, and there was a certain sinewy power to it, but this was a bit stingy at points - hard to figure out whether it was tired, or just tight, especially given that it was opened many hours before serving. Overall, not bad, but not great.
