Saturday, January 10, 2009 - And for today's unintended tasting note, I present this, the glass or so of wine left at the bottom of the bottle after it bumped up against its mate and broke apart in transit from my car on the way down to my cellar :(
Retained gas quickly dissipates. An absolutely wow nose of tangerine, mandarin orange, peach, mango, flowers, and some honey. Substantial wine for a Mosel Spatlese with moderate sweetness. Caressing texture which gives the remarkable impression of stone fruit and cream, but the acid is there and there is great minerality that comes after this initially glossy impression. Fantastic wine! As sad as I am to not be able to drink the rest of this great bottle, I must say that my sneakers and driveway never smelled better... Time to get out and find a replacement bottle or two.
