Wednesday, February 19, 2014 - Gorgeous, expressive, multi-dimensional bouquet. Layers of aroma: white flowers; blanched almonds and other nuts; honey; oat biscuit; lemon; pears; some minerals. No detectable sulphurs and oak nicely in check. On palate, just below medium weight, but good depth and power. Attractive, but not racy acids. Citric, honey and lactic flavours. Oak well integrated. A very good, well made, technically correct 1er Puligny. However, not, tonight, the complexity on palate suggested by the bouquet, or present in the 2007 de Montille Le Cailleret we also had. It was also worrying how as the Boillot warmed and opened, it tended to loose focus, with the oak becoming over prominent, which did not happen with the Cailleret. Approachable, but now a little four square, perhaps it needs more time? Still, good, 91.
