Tuesday, September 6, 2016 - Roumier's '89 Charmes is simply singing, bursting from the glass with a beautifully pure bouquet of red and black cherry, with subtle top-notes of vine smoke, fresh tobacco and grilled venison. On the palate the wine is supple, "charming" in its expansiveness and beautifully balanced, with a sweet core of fruit and none of the tannic asperity one sometimes encounters in the '89 red Burgundy vintage. Delicious stuff.
