Saturday, December 25, 2010 - The second of three 2006 Ridge Zinfandels we drank on Christmas day. Purple with a red ring in the glass (same appearance as the Nervo). This wine is 88% Zinfandel/7% Alicante Bouschet/3% Petite Sirah/2% Carignane. Similar nose to the Nervo, but more smoke. Blackberry is still present, but the smoke and cigar box notes give it a nice appeal that differentiates it. Gobs of brambly fruit on the palate. The taste is more fruit forward and the tannins are a little sharper. The finish has blackberry, strawberry, and shows great length. Another strong wine.
