Monday, May 17, 2010 - Great clarity is my first impression, and then I wonder whether there are tannins showing in this Chablis. If so, they are talcum-powder-like, fluffy tannins; really interesting texture, like the '05 I brought to Brooklynguy's place two weekends ago, but more youthful and primary. Terrific acids and salinity on the palate. The finish is impressive, with screeching minerality and a note of creme fraiche, not oaky butter cream. The palate shows a touch of apple juice. With more air, again impressive clarity, the apple juice recedes, and we're left with very nice white fruit, minerals and acidity. The nose is "cool", pure mountain after-the-rain air; wow.
