Saturday, February 9, 2008 - An enormous wine full of fresh fruit yet possessing remarkable secondary flavors found in a well aged wine. Spicy with raspberries and a bit of soy on the palate with a nose of earth and ripe fruit. This was the oldest Syrah I have ever had with most of the wines I drink with age being Cabs of Bordeaux blends. My wife kept saying this wine was big and bold.

I was surprised at this wine showing so well. My son had given it to me as a gift a few months ago and he had found it just sitting on a shelf at a small liquor store. It was not carefully cellared as it sat on the retail shelf for a number of years. It must have been a well made wine to hold up in those conditions and it showed no signs of being past its prime.
