Friday, November 10, 2017 - Auslese is a tough sell these days because many don't like that much sweetness in a table wine and an auslese isn't a full fledge dessert wine. This opened kaat night showed am amber apparance. Beautiful clairty. The nose is mineral and pineapple. The wine is sweet but not at all syrupy. There is fruit and fruit cake balanced with elegant acidity. There are also apricot notes and refreahing overall quality. We had it with a salad with fennels. It is a good salad course wine but I would love it for salmon with a tarragon cream sauce or a likely spicy curry dish. This wine is in great shape and at the peak of maturity.
