Monday, April 18, 2011 - Opened the screw cap, decanted and consumed over 3 hours. I hate screw caps... I probably should have decanted longer, but it was time to catch buzz. Dark, inky, opaque, blackish-purple hue with light sediment in the bottle. Strong nose of dark fruit: blackberries, dark cherries, cassis, and ripe strawberries. Full midpalate with some dark current bitterness and kind of sweet. Jammy, not tannic. The ALC (16.5%) was noticeable, but relatively well balanced. The finish was pleasing and of moderate length.
Definitetly of the "Bold Aussie Shiraz" style. For some reason I enjoyed this specific bottle of Blue Eyed Boy a little more than the previous one. I would recommend drinking now or over the next few years as these are meant to drink young.
