Saturday, May 21, 2011 - NC Cindy Tasting. Decanted a full 12 hours before being transported to the event. Slightly darker than the 2006, this is still funky, with an overwhelming sense of black pepper on the nose. The alcohol, even after the extended decant, is wildly powerful. On the palate, though, there's lot of blackberry fruit, but very little in the way of secondary flavors. I was expecting some depth, but the flavor is medium-short, and there's just not enough here to consider it to be an above-average effort. The average CT value is $30, and I just wouldn't want to pay that for this wine.
