Friday, February 20, 2009 - Deep garnet ruby, thin clear band at the edge. Nose of piercing blackberry, cedar spice, a note of musty funk (actually refined) - sort of a refined terroir earth mustyness?? This does add some depth. Balanced on the palate with blackberry, dark current, cedar spice, good acidity and a mineral background. In general, high marks for a serious, well made wine that should mature / improve with 2-3 years in the cellar. Now, decant for an hour or so, to get to level two. Medium but lingering finish with good acidic sensations. Great QPR.
