Thursday, June 20, 2013 - I got this as a gift bottle for a 2006 party. It's been waiting its turn in the cellar until tonight.

A simple nose of red fruits.

More interesting on the pallet with cherry, raspberry and black spices. A surprisingly long finish of tobacco, coffee, and black spice. A nice bright acidity livens the flavors. Not much earthiness.

Tannins are soft and have a nice presence, but I don't expect this bottle will improve with any further aging. Still very enjoyable, but I would drink up this year.

I have had far worse gift bottles.
