Friday, March 12, 2010 - NC Cindy tasting. Decanted for about 1.5 hours. Good dark color. On the nose, very sweet, bright, and fruity. Maybe a little heat. Seemed a touch extracted. On the palate, this had good cherry fruit which crescendoed into a nice cedary mid-palate with some smokiness. Nice, silky mouthfeel. Unfortunately, the mid-palate faded quickly, and the wine had a short finish. Although just three plus years old, this did not seem like it had much development left, although it will probably be in good drinking form for two or three years. Overall, a decent, well-made wine, but not worth the initial $50-60 asking price. At the $20 pro-rated price in the Cinderella wine 3-pack, though, this is a solid value.

For me, this was fourth among the five California wines tasted at this event.
