Tuesday, April 14, 2009 - A bit tight with rigid tannins for the first half hour or so, but then it just sort of relaxed all at once to reveal some bold, but not overpowering fruit flavors. Nose never really became overly expressive, but did give up some anise, black currant and blueberry. Taste follows the nose with just a touch of acid and heat out of the finish. Based on this bottle alone, it is no doubt more approachable right now than the 06 was at this same point last year, but I am not going to say that this wine is better than the 06 because I experienced quite a bit of bottle variance in that vintage.
