Saturday, January 22, 2011 - From a pristine looking bottle, this wine had a gold center and clear rims. The medium intensity nose displayed lemon, pear, white stone and some almond paste. If I might digress, I understand what tasters mean when they note "spearmint" in Ramonet wines. For me, that flavor is more of an ultra fine, vaporized lemon oil.

As is so often the case, this wine was pretty good from hour 1 to hour 2. However, it really shifted into the next gear during hour 3 of aeration. The flavors in the mouth echoed the nose and were nicely balanced with solid acidity. The wine was very ripe but not heavy. It also had good minerality and a long finish. This was a nice, well integarted wine that was drinking well. While it won't ever be Le Montrachet, it may move up a point or so over the next 5 years. I suggest extended decanting before consumption. This wine is a winner (if there is no pre-mox).
