Sunday, January 2, 2022 - ABV: 14.0%. Wow ... after being opened for about 20-30 minutes, there's a very expressive nose of violets, graphite, smoked meats, and black/blue fruits. There's also a leathery note, but as a whole, it leans more towards a modern Bordeaux. Black and dark red fruits appear on the mid-palate as it opens up more and more, supported by well-integrated acidity, but the wine still has some grip so it can easily wait another 5 years (and most likely gain a few more points in rating). There's also a savory, umami-like profile that carries on to the lengthy finish. This wine is reminiscent of the Pingus vs Bordeaux tastings that I've experienced in the past.
