The last reviewer described "a very expressive nose of violets, graphite, smoked meats, and black/blue fruits." I'll match that and add 'cedary', though where that reviewer ended up comparing it to a modern Bordeaux I thought it might be one of Victor La Serna's Spanish syrahs which I've had the '04 of. You can tell from the other reviewers notes why I went to syrah.

ABV: 14.0%. Wow ... after being opened for about 20-30 minutes, there's a very expressive nose of violets, graphite, smoked meats, and black/blue fruits. There's also a leathery note, but as a whole, it leans more towards a modern Bordeaux. Black and dark red fruits appear on the mid-palate as it opens up more and more, supported by well-integrated acidity, but the wine still has some grip so it can easily wait another 5 years (and most likely gain a few more points in rating). There's also a savory, umami-like profile that carries on to the lengthy finish. This wine is reminiscent of the Pingus vs Bordeaux tastings that I've experienced in the past.

So many people all saying it is in a great spot - it is! Perhaps has traded an element of new for old, but it is supple, dry, friendly, full on the palate, and dusty on the finish. Fully enjoyable with fruit, structure, and elegance. Leans more Rioja than Ribera in a way, or a mid-way point. A very interesting and liked one it is.

Beautiful Tempranillo. Ready to be consumed. Did not need to decant. Very balanced with medium dark fruit, some savory notes, mild tannins. Medium-full body. Decent finish. Great with paella and tapas.
