Wednesday, October 24, 2012 - From 75cl screwcap. Going, going... but not quite gone yet? A mere six years after the vintage, this still has the astonishing raspberry-and-cream entry I noted 2 years ago, but despite the intense acidity what dominates is a pretty monolithic rose-water-sweetness. On the finish quite a tannic grip. No, it isn't a masterpiece, but the potential is there, and in some years as the vines mature Cornish Point may yet deliver some of the finest Felton Road wines, i.e. the very best NZ PN on offer. So grateful to have tasted this wine seven times since January 2010, and looking foward to trying the first of my 2008s. 2nd day (vacuvin + stored in a cool place): yes, drink up. This now tastes like a mediocre Beaune "1. Cru" from an average producer in a ripe year. 87-88P(?)
