Sunday, April 14, 2013 - Lovely bottle of wine, shared with a couple who had never tasted old German Riesling before. They loved it. Me, well I found it a bit lacking in depth or concentration. A fine bottle but not one I got all whoop-de-doo over. Sure there's the diesel nose, some Saar valley acidity singing soprano in the background, and lime key pie fruit but the finish drops rather suddenly and the expected weight from the bottle age isn't there. If it were labelled Kabinett instead I'd probably be a lot more generous with the praise.
