100 Points

Sunday, February 13, 2011 - One of the most fantastic wines from this monumental vintage of Chateauneuf du Pape, and surely a great investment in a case or two for one's cellar. Incredibly smooth and focused, precise balance of flavor that builds to a spectacular finish that just goes on and on. Very deep purple color, magnificent aromas of blueberry, blackberry, lavender. This is one of those highly versatile wines that is perfectly drinkable now, yet will evolve and develop even more with the benefit of extended cellaring. Very unctuous, smooth, creamy and full-bodied. I brought a bottle to one of Las Vegas' Michelin-starred restaurants, and invited our highly knowledgeable sommelier to try some with us. He was clearly very impressed, so much so that he shared his glass with the chef, who gave us his compliments for an outstanding choice. This is one of those wines where I'd buy all that I could afford, they rarely get much better than this.
