100 Points

Sunday, August 25, 2013 - If this bottle is any indication, this magnificent wine is coming out of its dumb phase quite beautifully. A robust, peppery nose hints at a very deep, relentlessly earthy palate of chocolate, pepper, black cherry and notes of liquorice. I highly recommend at least a 2-to-3 hour decant, the flavors mellow and refine nicely after having been cooped up under the cork. This wine deserves every accolade it's received, from what remains one of the most stellar vintages in the southern Rhone in several generations. Highly recommended.
