Sunday, June 26, 2011 - (13.5%) 90% Sangiovese with small percentages of Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon – Savory herbs with tart red cherries and spice on the nose. Fresh in the mouth with more tart red cherry before mineral flavors emerge to add acidity as we head into the mid-palate where this one dries out. From there you get dried herbs along with dusty chocolate before chewy, persistent tannins drive toward a finish where the oaky creaminess comes through and lingers on nicely. This wine received 90+ points from most (93 from WE) of the major publications. While I may not go that high (bit heavy on the oak for me) this is certainly an enjoyable and well made wine that I would be happy to drink again. Which is good as it is widely available...
