Saturday, May 26, 2012 - A rustic Chianti Rufina that was medium- to dark ruby in colour. It offered cherry, iron, earth, oak, vanilla, coffee, spices and chocolate on the nose. On the palate the wine showed sour cherry, iron, earth, oak, vanilla and some coffee, with medium- to high acidity, medium length and a rough mouthfeel. The wine was best a few minutes after opening the bottle and started to decline after about two hours in the decanter. Won’t buy again.
