Tuesday, April 29, 2014 - A youthful bottle that did not show much oxidation. The wine is still slightly tannic and could benefit from aging. More generic red fruit profile, somewhat monotonic, with some soaked barrel flavors. Evoked memories of '01 Talenti, with perhaps a little lighter touch of oak. I was more impressed with several recent Il Poggione bottlings ('08, '09) that displayed plenty of perfumed, smoky aromas and a more complex mineral structure.
