Sunday, May 26, 2019 - With 15 years of age, this really needs to stand upright for a day or so and be decanted off the sediment. That said, this is in a very good spot. Big balsamic notes, dried herbs, tertiary leather and tobacco flavors frame the fruit, which has taken on a dried character. General earthy notes, with tomato / tomato leaf ,on the nose and palate, reminds you that you're drinking Sangiovese. Fully integrated tannins, medium+ acid and generally medium+ on the body. Probably at or near peak, but it has the stuffing to carry on for several years. Not really exceptional in any single aspect, but very solid and a good example of aged Brunello. That probably sounds more dismissive than I intended it to be.
