(Applewood): Shows some minerality and quince flavors and aromas, but unfortunately the wine is marred by an all too noticeable dirty barrel/funky note. There was much talk at the table about the quality of the site, but that it was being wasted by sloppy winemaking at that time, a fact that has kept the price of these old wines low at this time. Tasting the wine, one really gets a sense of that. Medium sweet with the plump mouthfeel of the vintage. B-.
