Tuesday, August 16, 2016 - The nose on this wine is simply incredible: plum fruit, gravel, worcestershire and wet tobacco leaf. Powerful and complex but not the slightest bit heavy. The color remains deep for the vintage and doesn't point to maturity. The palate confirms the youthful color - there is bright fruit and still a vein of tannin present. Maybe lacking a bit of fullness as others have suggested. This is a lighter styled La Mission that is nonetheless extremely enjoyable. I think it will really hit its stride in 2020 and enjoy a fabulous life for many years after. Count me as a fan (93+)
