2000 Château Gruaud Larose

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Saturday, October 15, 2022 - Talbot, Gruaud & Lagrange (Piccolino Exchange Square): On pouring, a bit muted on the nose but it wakes up. Classic clarety cedar box, some density of fruit, lovely gentle tannins. Evidently Parker hated this wine and one can tell why. I think of all the wines served this is the one I'd want to have a case of to lie down.

10/15/2022 11:32:00 AM - Thanks for the note! A minor historical quibble: I have a few of these that I bought based on Parker's recommendation back in the day. His 2001 barrel review rated the wine 93-95 and his 2010 retrospective rated it 94 points. His tastes may have changed near the end of his career but I think his Bordeaux recomendations from the 80's, 90's and early 2000's have clearly stood the test of time and I am glad to have a few left in my cellar!
