Thursday, April 30, 2009 - Decanted 1 hour in a mag decanter. Nose: Initially after pop & pour very closed tight nose. Then after some air complex aromas of charcoal, tar, graphite and brine salt. After more air faint rapsberry, blackberry and mint leaf aromas emerge. Palate: Big tannins and acid yet still light on it's feet. Flavors of black and white pepper with the charcoal, tar and salt present. The finish is med-length and very clean with no rough edges. This wine is a baby and it will be interesting to see the other bottles evolve. My first Carlisle and now I see what all the fuss is about. Bravo Mike Officer & Jay Maddox!
