90 Points

Sunday, October 28, 2012 - Purple to ruby in color, medium plus intensity. The nose is clean of medium intensity; showing sweet black and blue fruit and dark cocoa. The nose is developing. The palate is dry, with medium acidity, medium plus alcohol and medium plus tannins. The tannins are polished, and are only noticeable on the finish. Likewise, the 14.5% alcohol is not particularly noticeable, except as a source of heat on the finish. The palate is consistent with the nose, with flavors of blackberry, plum and a little liquorice on the finish. The body, flavor intensity and length are all medium to medium plus. This is drinking very well now and is likely to remain in a good place for several more years thanks to its balanced structure. It could be mistaken for an Oregon or Northern California Syrah. It has a lot more grace and polish than an Aussie or South African Shiraz, and ultimately reveals its French roots. A great value.
