Thursday, May 3, 2018 - Straight from the bottle this wine has a nose of sour tart cherries. Warm fruit and gentle oak and marzipan. The palate has full and concentrated fruit and gives me much more than the nose initially.
The bottle went straight on to the decanter and it started opening up nicely during the next hour. The nose changed into violets and floral notes, and into tomato sauce. This is good stuff! The palate also twists and turns around itself and yields lots of fruit and power. But there is something unfulfilled in here. The discussion around the table is wheather the wine has reached its peak, or if it is just going into a dumb phase, or if the vintage just doesn’t have enough stuffing and fruit in general. Concensus is not reached. Anyway the wine is wonderful.
