Monday, June 16, 2008 - Riesling Revival with Bear Dalton of Specs (French Alliance Houston): This was the first Alsace Grand Cru I have tasted and the oldest Riesling as well. The color was light orange. The nose was a very distinct orange liqueur. Expressive minerality on the nose as well. This wine is dry as a bone. It was amazing how mouthcoating this wine was. Ultra complex. The more we focused on it the more we found. The finish amazed all of us as it lasted more than a minute with an almost spicy character. You could still taste the wine on the back of your tongue. This wine belongs with food. I look forward to trying another aged Alsace Grand Cru.
