Friday, November 14, 2014 - A lovely effort, the 2005 Scavino Barolo delivers deep red fruit, classical cherry and very forward amaretto tones. The nose is very fruit forward and alive, but certainly keeps its elegant origin alive. The palate is also enjoyable. The different components are clearly visible, but still there is enough balance to keep the wine on the elegant side. Oak, fruit and acidity speak with one voice. A very nice entry-level wine from a star producer. Well worth seeking out! Served from 375 ml bottle.
