93 Points

Wednesday, May 17, 2017 - Open and in a way voluptuous and needed 30 minutes of standing in the bottle to balance out across the different notes.
Dark and inky but not dense. The nose is full of a smoky bacon/roast meat and a feel of that iron (or blood) that north Rhone syrah delivers. The spice and dark fruits are there too but second fiddle to the smoky side. Quite intense on the flavor at this stage and the wine has a good 10-15yrs of good drinking life with lots of evolution. Very happy to have crossed paths with it now but we will hide our other bottle for a good 5 years and revisit it with a hopefully more evolved side. 93 for now. This is a wine which could breach the gap if one has lovers of Shiraz and Syrah on the same table.
